Maidu Half Day Program | Field Trip

Grades: 3 - 5

Spend the morning outdoors in our replica Valley Nisenan village. Students walk the Nature Study Area trails to observe native plants and animals traditionally used by the Valley Nisenan, explore replica Valley Nisenan artifacts, play a traditional game, and participate in a traditional acorn preparation demonstration.

This is a 3.5-hour program at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center for up to 35 students and 8 adults (including the teacher, aide(s) and chaperones). Parking passes included.

This program will touch upon the following Common Core State Standards (CCSS):
CCSS: HSS-3.2, HSS-4.2, HSS-5.3

Included

Parking passes are included for participants, and for any drivers who transport students but who are not attending the program.

This program includes a scheduled meal period.

Requirements

Each program is limited to 35 students and 8 adults (including the teacher, aide(s) and chaperones).

Closed-toe shoes are required for all participants.

Programs are rain or shine, except in the case of dangerous weather conditions.
